How can we assume otherwise?

As far as the soul issue, I would agree, they are animated with the spirit of the natural magical world. I think they make more sense not having individual souls, though. They are less "individuals" than humans, less likely to be gripped by individual ambition, not having individual alignment, that kind of thing. I would say the presence of the unique "astral body" soul is what accounts for human uniqueness and diversity.

I realize that everything I am saying was cast out by later editions, when everything was made "human", I am just exploring a early strata of the mythos and running with it.

Thanks for the comments.Justinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01023125641719686613noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-771954385358383237.post-48583514202823146662011-01-21T18:55:20.580-08:002011-01-21T18:55:20.580-08:00Interesting thought exercise, but I find deeming d...Interesting thought exercise, but I find deeming demihumans as 'soulless' a bit contradictory if we are to see them as a natural part of the land. Instead, I would say their soul is just a part of the larger soul or lifeforce of the land around them, while human souls are not. This is why humans are plagued with undead and demihumans are not. Deities present their own problem, for if clerical powers are the result of relations to gods, why would demihumans worship deities at all?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
